Welcome to The Grimsley Quaranzine!

Eliza Benbow (left) and Isabella Romine (right) have been friends since kindergarten, and they've been a team ever since. They're bonded by being enrolled in both IB and Spanish Immersion, a shared fondness for bad jokes, and above all, a mutual love for literature and service—passions they've put together to bring the Quaranzine to life.

Isabella Romine is an active member of Grimsley's communities. In addition to playing Varsity soccer and golf, she co-founded Grimsley's Philosophy Club and the school's literary magazine blue,. A lifelong Girl Scout, Isabella recently completed her Gold Award at Grimsley by creating a school-based enterprise program for the Occupational Course of Study students. In the larger Greensboro community, she's active as a pioneering member of Scuppernong's teen book club and as a swimmer and lifeguard at Friendly Pool. She also contributes to several magazines: MissHeard, a feminist publication, and Momentum, an international student-run literary magazine. In her free time, she enjoys weightlifting, experimenting with different art mediums, and inventing new recipes.

Eliza Benbow is a driven student and passionate contributor to the Grimsley community. She is co-founder of the Young Adult Writers of Grimsley club and Grimsley’s literary magazine blue, as well as a longstanding member of the Battle of the Books team. Eliza remains active in her community as a volunteer dance teacher to young girls in her neighborhood, a leader to a group of eight grade girls at her church, and one of the founding members of the Scuppernong Teen Literature Assembly. She is also the manager of Glenwood Community Bookshop, where she can be found most days after school organizing the storefront, shelving books, or exchanging stories with her employer, Al. An aspiring journalist, Eliza is preparing to travel the world by learning both French and Spanish, with the goal of fluency in even more languages in the future. In her free time, Eliza can be found at her second home, Tate Street Coffee House, reading, writing, or listening to live jazz music.

Our Purpose

While text can never replace face-to-face interaction, it's something. Our goal is to highlight how the Grimsley community comes together and marches onward, even in unprecedented times. We hope to share the voices and achievements of all Grimsley's students.
